Safety should be in the forefront of everyone's mind when handling hazardous products. When an accident or emergency occurs, it is very important to know what safety procedures should be used. We offer safety training and assistance to develop safety programs for your facility. Your health and safety is very important to us!

Appearance & Odor: Yellow powder, essentially no odor

Health Hazards
Eyes: Should be irrigated with lots of water/physiological silane for at least 15 minutes. Do not use Boric Acid. Sulfur dust is an acid irritant. Sulfur is an eye irritant but if prompt treatment is applied, no lasting injury will result.
Skin: Prolonged contact with the skin should be avoided and sulfur dust should be removed through washing with mild soap and water. Soiled clothing should be washed before reuse.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, support breathing if necessary.
Ingestion: Call a doctor immediately.
Overexposure
Sulfur is essentially a non-toxic either through ingestion, inhalation or skin contact. There are, however, some individuals who may be allergic & must not be permitted in the area of exposure.

Employee Protection
Respiratory: Approved respirators, approved breathing apparatus.
Eye: Dust tight goggles.
Ventilation: Local ventilation.
Other:

Protective gloves. Eyewash, hard hats.

Fire & Explosion Hazards
Flammable levels: Solid is moderate fire hazard, but dust dispersed in air can self ignite and burn with explosive violence.
Flash Point: 370°F, 188°C
Extinguishing Media: Water fog is the best way to control sulfur fires. Small fires may be smothered with sand or CO2 may be used. When sulfur burns it generates sulfur dioxide, a toxic gas.
Special Procedures: Solid streams of water should not be used because of the low ignition temperature of dust dispersed in the air.
